SAPI, contractor for the specialist rehabilitation work.

In Cagliari, SAPI carried out specialist work on the DN700 PN10 urban trunk main as part of Lot B of the water network upgrade for Abbanoa.

CCTV inspections, pipe preparation and UV curing enabled work from within, concentrating excavation at access points. In the final steel section, the solution also accommodated a 25° change in direction.

SAPI, a member of the EKSO-led temporary consortium (ATI), alongside Benassi.

Rehabilitation of the Collettore Principale Est covered urban sections and Monza Park. Work carried out directly by SAPI comprised eight UV-CIPP installations totalling 2,144.03 metres, in circular and egg-shaped sections.

Pipe preparation and lining were accompanied by bypass management, reopening of connections and final checks, including CCTV inspections and leak tests.

At Lu Bagnu, rehabilitation of the Coghinas II water main for ENAS covered approximately 2,400 metres of pipe under the consortium’s contract. Slip lining enabled a new DN1200 GRP pipe to be inserted into the existing DN1400 concrete main.

An internal 3D survey, BIM coordination and a bypass of the water main supported the planning of the work. Activities included inserting the pipe sections, making joints, filling the annular gap and adapting the ancillary structures.

For the water mains in Posada and Nuoro, hose lining rehabilitation used a flexible liner reinforced with aramid fibres, inserted into the existing pipe and connected using dedicated end fittings.

The work covers DN250 drinking water mains in Posada and DN350 mains in Nuoro, using PN16 liners. Installation includes handling the reels, guiding the liner at access points and assembling the fittings.

SAPI, contractor for detailed design and construction.

For the Consorzio di Bonifica della Sardegna Centrale, SAPI carried out the detailed design and rehabilitation of the irrigation network in Orosei. The solution uses a self-supporting liner inserted into the existing pipes through localised access points.

The main pipes covered by the work are DN400 and DN250, with a design length of approximately 1,380 metres. Satisfactory completion of the work was certified in February 2023.

In Cagliari, SAPI worked for the temporary consortium (RTI) of Lombarda Costruzioni, Tilocca and Icort on the DN400 cast iron water main in Via Maddalena, between Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Viale Trieste.

The solution uses a self-supporting liner reinforced with para-aramid fibres and coated in polyethylene, inserted into the existing pipe without heating and completed with flanged end fittings.

SAPI, contractor carrying out the work on behalf of SRC.

At the Portovesme plant, SAPI carried out rehabilitation of the F19-Y002 foul sewer. The technical solution includes relining six DN200 sections by inserting HDPE pipes, reinstating connections and rehabilitating inspection chambers.

The work specification provides for temporary bypasses to maintain normal plant operation and acid-resistant protection for the inspection chambers. The sections have an indicative total length of approximately 160 metres.
